Movie Mondays!

Don’t make assumptions or get turned off by the title either because this is a highly entertaining film and one of the best I’ve seen in awhile. Stephen Chow takes the standard conventions of the genre and churns out a jewel of a movie. Kung Fu Hustle is a film that pays great homage to its predecessors at the same time having a lighthearted sensibility that never descends into mocking tone. The characters may be two dimensional and the story a bit simplistic but that doesn’t stop it from being fun! The fight scenes are choreographed wonderfully, the set design and effects are amazing, it’s a tour de force that holds up under repeated viewings. This is a real movie lover’s movie and entertaining for those seeking out the kind of Saturday matinee fare that made going to the movies fun. It’s a treat for a broad range of ages and a delight to watch!

I’m repurposing content by taking my NetFlix reviews and posting them here on the blog. If I could figure out a way to do it, I’d post some kind of link for people to connect and make me their friend on the service. Unfortunately, it isn’t altogether clear how one would do that - so if you know a way, pass it along. In the meantime, I’ve got steady content for at least a year.
